Smoking is no longer “in” or cool. Wherever you go you see a “no smoking sign” and this is because society has woken up to dangers that smoking poses not only to smokers themselves but to everyone that is exposed to second-hand smoke. If you are a smoker wondering how you are going to quit the habit then it is time to find out how thousands of other people, just like you, have already quit smoking.
Before we look at the ways to quit smoking it is important to think about the benefits that you will get if you stop smoking. Think about the value of your own life. For example how much is seven years of your life worth? Seven years is the time that you can add to your lifespan if you stop smoking according to a study in the British Medical Journal.

People engage in compulsive buying or spending on occasion, particularly at Christmastime when they get caught up in the excitement or pressure of buying. While most people keep their spending under control, some may develop a more serious problem. They buy far more than they need and most of it they will never use. It sometimes results in thousands of euros of debt. This is called oniomania or compulsive shopping.
In a society that thrives on materialism, compulsive shopping is frequently overlooked as a problem and may even be treated as a joke. Compulsive shoppers are often dismissed as being financially irresponsible. However compulsive shopping can be devastating not only financially, but also mentally and emotionally.

By Paul Kennard
Some people associate gambling as a means of enjoyment or social interaction. But at one point in my life it became an addiction. The fun stopped and the problems began, but oddly enough while it was happening I didn’t know the moment the switch occurred. I was introduced to gambling at the age of 23 while working at a small restaurant on the northwest part of town. It was a slow time of day and there were three video lottery machines in a small room in the corner of the restaurant. The entire staff would play the machines during the slow times throughout the day and I never thought much about it. They would spend their tip money in hopes that they would win it big with nothing more than a spare change left behind by patrons.
One day I decided to drop a quarter into the machine myself and take a run with my luck. The game Keno looked pretty interesting to me so I picked ten numbers and hit start. Before I knew it I was racking up credits, 500 to be exact. I couldn’t believe it, I had just won $125.00 and it was my first time playing any kind of game of this kind. I was on top of the world and experiencing what I would later understand to be a gambler’s high.

Psychologists disagree as to whether computer obsession is even a real addiction. Although many therapists treat “computer addiction” as a disorder, other therapists claim that computer obsession is more like pathological gambling than a true addiction, because it involves a behavioral failure to resist an impulse and not a physical dependence upon some sort of substance.
There have been few studies on the fairly recent phenomenon of computer addiction, so there are few scientific facts to quote. However, there’s plenty of anecdotal evidence that seems to suggest that computer addiction not only exists, but may actually be close to an epidemic worldwide. Most heavy computer users are aware of their own problem or know of other people who seem to display all the symptoms of an addicted personality.

Nail biting is amongst one of the most common habit intended to relieve stress. Some of these habits pointing out stress and nervousness might include thumb-sucking, hair twisting or pulling, nose picking, tooth grinding and skin picking. Nail biting is generally the result of stress or excitement or it might be indicative of inactivity and boredom. It is believed that nail biting is generally a learnt behavior.
Nail biting is almost instinctive without actual realization. So, you could be engaged in reading or talking on the phone or watching TV and start biting nails without realizing it. Nail biting is not just limited to biting nails but also to biting the cuticles and the surrounding tissues around the nails.

It is well known that there are many on-line users who are seriously addicted to the Internet. This addiction develops slowly, much in the same way as drugs or alcohol. It is easy to miss the point when one stops controlling his or her actions and addiction takes over. I know being one of those who missed the point a long time ago. Today I am trying to analyze how this happened and what the reasons were that brought me into this hopeless condition.
At first, I would occasionally use the Internet just for fun-to read anecdotes or chat on ICQ. However even in that innocent time, there were some early warning signs such as developing the habit of eating in front of the computer and even destroying my first keyboard by spilling coffee on it.
